For 1000 Bags Here and Now, Andreas and Kathrin from Public Works, together with a small team of co-makers, set up stall for two weeks on the historic Petticoat Lane market in east London, known for its fabric and fashion trade.
Equipped with two sewing machines, bespoke bags were made ad hoc for free for market traders and visitors, using unwanted materials from existing stalls. 1000 Bags Here and Now was part of the nearby Whitechapel Gallery’s The Street project.
