Benches

1999

I keep making and designing simple wooden benches for public use, sometimes commissioned, sometimes fabricated spontaneously in public areas we use and have access to, such as the square in front of a studio shared with Stefan Saffer in Berlin.

Commissions include benches for the Economist Plaza London, curated by Katharine Stout, and SUB Station in Berlin. One bench has moved from the Whitechapel Gallery to Company Drinks’ garden, benches from the International Village Show are waiting for new public use. Benches made for “Halle 1” in 1998 in Munich are in my parent’s garden.
