Description | A group of 12 teenagers from the Leicestershire village of Barrow-upon-Soar worked with staff from the Sports Technology Institute at Loughborough University to develop a new ball-based product. The Sports Technology Institute is specialised on engineering and testing footballs, and most of the teenagers play football - amongst numerous of other ball-based games. Both groups met for a numer of workshop sessions around playing ball games, putting together rough prototypes and testing them both on the village green and the high tech lab at the Institute. The collaboration and product development was funded by the RADAR arts programme who had invited public works for a project as part of the "Group Process" commission series. Product idea and development: Alison Johnston, Conor Kirk, Charlie Brown, Jack Brown, Jordan Brown, Billy Bott, Jessica Cox, Matthew Doherty, Callum Johnston, Alix Johnston and Nathaniel Higton from the near-by village of Barrow-upon-Soar. Kathrin Böhm and Andreas Lang from public works. |
